Safe by design, not by setting

What is not in the product

• No advertising. None, on any plan, including the free one. There is no ad network in the app and nothing about your family is sold to anybody.
• No open chat. The live classroom offers preset reactions and nothing else. There is no message box, and no way for one child to send another arbitrary words.
• No free text a child can reach. Anywhere a grown-up can type - the curriculum request form, account settings - sits behind the parent gate.
• No dark patterns. No streak that punishes a missed day, no timer on a question, no lives to lose. A wrong answer becomes a review card and the screen says so.

The parent gate is a real boundary

Purchases, account settings, the levers over how your child learns, the request form and the admin console all sit behind a four-digit PIN you choose. The gate is not a banner: the screen behind it does not render until the PIN is right, so there is nothing to read past or tap through.

The rest of the dashboard - the coverage map, the weekly wins, the printable record - is not gated. A maths question between a parent and their own attendance log helps nobody.

You decide how long the day is

You set the daily screen cap and the length of a single sitting. When the cap is reached the kingdom winds down and points your child outside rather than asking them to come back tomorrow. Hands-on cards and outdoor missions cost no screen minutes at all, so the learning day can continue when the tablet’s is over.

Reachable by every child

• WCAG AA contrast throughout. Every text tone is checked against the ground it sits on, in every theme, by a test that fails the build if a pair drops below the threshold.
• Completable without reading. Ages 3-6 hear every instruction aloud. You pick the voice and preview it in settings.
• Completable without sight. Every picture puzzle describes its own scenes without naming the answer.
• A reading face for dyslexia. One switch in settings, applied before the first frame paints so nothing reflows under a child who turned it on because reading is hard.

What we do not claim

You will not find certification seals on this page. A seal is a mark issued by a certifying body after an audit, and no such audit has been performed on StudiumYou - printing one would be the single claim a parent choosing on the strength of a badge could not check for themselves. Everything above it can be checked by using the product, which is the point.
